Bolton information and advisory service (IAS), is a statutory service, that provide legally informed information, advice and support, to parents and carers who have children between birth and 25 years, with any type of SEND. We also support young people directly. We cover Education, Health and Social care matters. All IAS staff are qualified, skilled, parent carers themselves, and experienced in delivering information, advice and support. Local Authorities must have an IAS service.
We can give you advice and information on educational, health and social care matters relating to SEND, by phone, email, and in person
We can help you understand what support your child is/ isn't getting, and help you to secure support your child may need.
We host a range of free, legally informed workshops for families, in partnership with Bolton Parent Carer forum, covering many different SEND related topics
Things a little complex? We don't have an 'end date' for our work. We will stay with you for as long as there is a role for IAS- you will have an allocated worker who you can contact directly.
A single point of contact throughout this legal process, from paperwork and forms, to draft plans and appeals.
** Only for SEN children. We can support you with the whole process of exclusion- from understanding the initial decision, attending governing body meetings and challenging decisions, and helping you to move on to next educational steps
At IAS we try and help wherever we can, but there are some things that we are not able to support with. These include;
Please look on the Local Offer for more help with these matters.
