Co-Production with parents and carers is a theme at the heart of the Children and Families Act 2014.
One of the SEND Priorities for the Bolton is Co-Production with parents, carers, children and young people.
When services are being planned, commissioned or reviewed by the Local Authority, they must consult children with SEND, their parents, and young people with SEND.
In order to make this process clearer for services to follow and use, Bolton IAS worked in Co-Production with a small team consisting of a representative from Health, education and the chair of the parent carer forum, to develop a co-production toolkit for the Bolton area.
It was launched by Bernie Brown, Head of Children’s Services in September 2021.
